The concept: a monotone, old, dirty wallpaper intertwining with 5 year-old Lucy's twisted imagination. Child-like drawings, with an almost ghostly presence, onto a fragmented wall. Her world is that living room, that centric space in her house. A stained, dirty carpet is her playground. Every element of the set -from the walls, to the carpet, to the furniture- had to suggest a badly-kept household. A sad parallel to Lucy's childhood. <image:caption>Studio Theatre at Virginia Tech, Fall 2016. A two-act play, with a time jump of fifty years in between. The solution from the set design for this transition became the changing of the stair unit during intermission. The stairs of act one, with pristine railing and mahogany wood work, were replaced by a stair in progress: the original wainscoting had been removed, revealing an age mark on the wall; a simpler, half-built railing with clumsy re-styling from the contractor now runs through the side. The China cabinet is gone, too, revealing an unpainted mark. The whole re-decoration process of the house has been done so careless, that instead of a new, modern house, it looks more like the ruins of a falling-apart memory. <image:caption>Associate set designer with Randy Ward. Studio Theatre at Virginia Tech, Fall 2017. Slick surfaces hide rot - Ping Chong said to us, describing the core idea behind this incarnation of his original piece Nosferatu: A Vampire Tale for Our Times. Randy immediately understood it, and translated it into what the world for this play needed to be. His design idea involved a unit set that would be able to show those slick surfaces and then expose what they truly hid, with one shocking reveal. In a close collaboration, we worked the specifics and the mechanics of the set, as well as its aesthetic values. Additionally, I was commissioned with the projection's design, which had to work as an extension of the set itself. Written and directed by Ping Chong, inspired by F.W. <image:title>Projections Design - Nosferatu: A Vampire Tale for Our Times</image:title>
<image:caption>Assistant projections designer: Claire Jessie For this incarnation of Ping Chong’s Nosferatu, projections ran with no blackouts on the screen in between scenes for the entire show, becoming an extension of both the set and the characters on stage. There were four different kinds of projections: - Text slides (inspired by the silent movie genre). - Video loops of moving clouds, night sky, and fireworks. - Slow-mo excerpts from F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu film. - Animations, for the Day of the Death parade. A total of 62 text slides, 4 video loops, 6 excerpts, and more than 50 original cartoons and 60 cutouts where digitally created, edited and manipulated, in order to bring to our modern era a tale that, like count Orlok himself, doesn't grow old through time. Cued and ran in Watchout 6.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Concept Art - TRESPA® Display Stand</image:title>
<image:caption>Academic project, 2014. It was required to design a temporary display stand for TRESPA®, a renowned paneling brand, in an area of 6 x 10 meters (19'6" x 32'9"), and a maximum height of 6 meters (19'6"). The requirements to fulfill were: - Represent the brand - Promote the brand - Sell the brand The proposal for the design involved the whole stand being made out of TRESPA® panels, in coherence to our three requirements. In a dynamic, visually inviting, and flexible space customers are shown the possibilities the panels allow them to achieve, in every detail of the stand itself. <image:caption>To me, designing for the performing arts is one of the most complex types of creation. Every line on paper is a choice with purpose. If you achieve to make a statement through those choices, then you have created art.</image:caption>
